Cagliari Tour 2010.

Our tour of Cagliari to visit the most beautiful parts of Bastion di Saint Remy, where from its portal leads to the town of the Medieval Castle, which is defined by the Pisan towers of San Pancrazio and Elefante.
Above all it is advisable to leave all means of transport along Viale Regina Elena, then take the lift and you will arrive directly at the square of Bastion Santa Caterina, elegantly supported by the Caffè degli Spiriti which has a splendid ambient lounge with hammocks, tables and soft sofas, to sip the best coffee or an aperitif.
Also to visit is San Saturno Cathedral, Duomo of Cagliari and  Basilica di Nostra Signora Bonaria and the Botanical Gardens of Cagliari.

Walking along the narrow lanes in a north-westerly direction you will come across the restructured works of the Palazzo Viceregio, today building of the Prefecture, and immediately after the Santa Maria Cathedral, works by the Pisan masters from the year 1000.
Going a bit further on it is possible to glimpse the Palazzo de’ Candia, which disposes an enviable neo-classical style facade.

Proceeding on you reach the Regio Arsenale, modified from time in the Citadel of Museums, together with modern buildings offering exhibitions and events like the National Picture Gallery, which actually guests the Anatomic Wax Collection works of Clemente Susini, or the National Archaeology Museum, today holder of the celebrated Stele fenicia di Nora, perhaps of the 8th Century A.C., brought the first example of Shardana registration, that is the old place name of the Sardinian land.
Leaving the Arsenale proceed towards the Ghetto degli Ebrei today in phase of reconstruction for offices, from summer 2007, of temporary exhibitions and galleries besides that of a permanent which trades of the towers and fortifications present on the island.

Omissible Itineraries of Cagliari:
Roman Amphitheatre:  ancient theatre of the 1st Century, built entirely in the calcareous rock; it is said that it could have contained ten thousand spectators. Today it guests various live representations, like concerts, shows and cultural manifestations.

Cagliari underground:  Crossing the innumerable cisterns excavated by the Phoenician, proceeds towards the underground of the town, by means of a pathway to the underground; not to miss is the sight of the Vittorio Emanuele II cistern, of extreme influence, reachable by means of the nearby Viale Sant' Ignazio.

Vaia di Tigellio: defined because at one time was in possession of music and Roman poetry, namesake that at the time lived in the Cagliari lands, to the dawning was  established by three noble buildings with ample thermal site attachments. Actually you will find the complex in Via Tigellio, not far from the Botanical Gardens.

Necropolis di Tuvixeddu: built on theslopes of the homonymous hill, with the behind to Viale di Sant' Avendrace and reachable through the portal in Via Falzarego, is an ancient cemetery of Phoenician-Puican origin; the multiplicity of the tombs, from which we remember the most celebrated Warrior and Ureo, today is known by the inauguration of an important archaeological park, open to the public.

GOING AWAY FROM THE CITY
A few minutes from the city, the village of San Sperate is known as the Town Museum, as it was considered a symbol from 1960 a stop for all those avant-garde and muralist artists of the place who yearned to break into the world of art: and in fact several important names have stayed in these places, giving them secure work time, originality, recognisable in every gorge and roads of the country. For example the great artist Pinuccio Setola already resided in these grounds from 1968, dedicating every type of mural, meanwhile following the project of Pietre Sonanti who was already ahead by 15 years: it treats us to a construction of basalt, limestone and trachyte worked with lame that, if thrashed or grazed with any utensil, reproduces particular sonority. It is absolutely possible to have an interview with the artist, who will receive you upon appointment in his studio, facing his rural laboratory, which is an orchard of citrus trees adorned with immense vibrant stones. San Sperate has gathered other innumerable muralists, like Angelo Pilloni who from 1972 has been the official member of the artistic movement of San Sperate; interestingly is his contemporary works, all reported scenes of rural life, evidencing with extreme precision the characteristic Carnpidanesi houses.
