Palazzo Viceregio and Ancient Town Hall

Another historical building to be visited is Palazzo Viceregio, situated in Piazza Palazzo, in the Castle district. It was built in 1337 by the Pisans and terminated by the Aragonese and became the viceregal residence.

Its rooms are often used for temporary exhibitions. Worth a visit are also the various halls on the main floor. Among all, the Hall Council Chamber stands out. It was painted by Domenico Bruschi.

In the same square there is the Ancient Town Hall (in the picture), a historic building of Cagliari, first seat of the town hall and later of other important institutions of Cagliari.

The building dates back to 1331 and due to the subsequent refurbishments of the 18th century, it is characterize by a style known as Piedmont Baroque and is now seat of one of the Public Museums of the city of Cagliari.
